Implants · Front tooth
At the back, an implant has to chew. A front tooth implant has to be invisible. That means the gum line has to sit at the right height, the crown has to catch light the way enamel does, and the shade has to match teeth that are rarely one flat colour.
Aesthetic zone
Placing a front tooth implant is not technically harder than a Single Tooth Implant at the back. What is harder is everything around it. The bone at the front is thinner, the gum is thinner still, and if either recedes even slightly the metal edge or a dark line can show. That is why front tooth implant cases are planned with more margin than a molar ever needs.
The temporary tooth does real work on a front tooth implant. It is shaped to support the gum while the site heals, so the tissue forms around the right profile rather than flattening. By the time the final Implant Crown goes on, the gum is already the shape it should be.
Where the front ridge has already collapsed, a Ridge Augmentation rebuilds the contour first. Getting that right is often what separates a result nobody notices from one people do.
How it works
The scan shows bone, the photographs record how the neighbouring teeth catch light. Both matter for a front tooth.
The post goes in and a temporary is fitted the same day where possible, shaped to support the gum.
The gum matures around the temporary over the healing months, so the final crown emerges from the right contour.
Shade taken in person rather than from a chart, then the crown is tried in, checked in daylight and seated.
Matching
Natural teeth are not one colour. They are darker at the neck, more translucent at the edge, and they carry small marks that a flat Implant Crown never has. A single front crown is the hardest restoration in dentistry precisely because it sits next to the reference. Two front teeth are, oddly, easier, because they can match each other.
If the neighbouring teeth are heavily worn or discoloured, matching one new crown to them may not give the result you want. That conversation belongs at the consultation, alongside how the case compares with the alternatives on Implants Vs Bridge and what it costs on Single Implant Cost.

Victoria patients
Most worried about it looking obvious. They took the shade in daylight and tried it in twice. Nobody has spotted it.
Ridge had collapsed after an old injury. Building it back added months but the gum line looks right.
They suggested whitening the others before matching the crown. Would not have thought of the order myself.
Walked out with a tooth the same day. The temporary was good enough that I stopped worrying about the wait.

A patient told 'no implants possible' elsewhere may have options after a thorough clinical assessment. Comprehensive evaluation and imaging change what's achievable.

Front cases deserve more assessment than a glance. The consultation covers the bone on a scan, the gum thickness, the shade of the teeth beside the gap and whether anything should happen before the implant is planned.
