Cost · One tooth
A single tooth implant is the most predictable case to price, because there are only three components and one site to assess. It is also the case most often quoted as a single figure that turns out to cover only the post.
Three parts
A single tooth implant post goes into the bone and is left to fuse. The abutment screws into it and sits at gum level. The crown goes on top and is the only part you see. They are made at different stages by different people, which is why they appear as three lines rather than one.
The treatment itself is covered on Single Tooth Implant, and the visible part in more detail on Implant Crown. For how the fee is structured across every kind of case, see Dental Implant Cost.
What makes one single tooth implant cost more than another is almost always the site rather than the tooth. A front tooth in the smile line needs more attention to gum shape and shade than a back molar, and a socket that has been empty for years may need building up first.
One tooth in Victoria usually falls between $3,000 and $6,500 once all three parts are counted. A case sits at the lower end when the bone is sound and the site is straightforward, and at the upper end when grafting, a front tooth, or a longer healing plan is involved. Figures are example ranges and depend on your own scan.
How it is priced
Which tooth, how long it has been missing and what the teeth either side are doing. All three change the plan.
The CBCT shows bone height and width in millimetres and whether the nerve or sinus is close. This is where grafting is ruled in or out.
Post, abutment and crown listed separately, with the material of the crown stated rather than left open.
Reviews and the fit appointment are in the plan. If something unexpected appears we discuss it before proceeding, not after.
The variables
Bone is first. A socket grafted at the time of extraction usually takes a post cleanly. A gap left for years narrows, and rebuilding it means a Ridge Augmentation before the implant can go in. In the upper back jaw a low sinus may call for a Sinus Lift Surgery instead.
Position is second. A Front Tooth Implant carries more laboratory work because the crown has to disappear against the teeth beside it, and the gum contour matters as much as the shade. A molar has to survive chewing load but nobody is examining how it looks.

Victoria patients
One back tooth. The quote listed the post, the abutment and the crown separately, which is why I went with them.
Paid more for the crown because it was a front tooth and they explained exactly why. Worth it, nobody can tell.
Two teeth missing but I could only afford one. They planned the sequence so the second one later would not be harder.
Needed the ridge built up first. The extra cost was in the plan from day one rather than appearing halfway through.

MSP does not cover dental implants in British Columbia. Most private plans offer partial coverage only. Understanding your benefits and annual maximums before treatment starts helps you plan the real cost.

A consultation and scan give you a firm number for your own tooth rather than a range from a website. You will see the post, abutment and crown priced separately, and hear whether the site needs anything before a post can go in.
